Zuma was taken to the Gauteng Supreme Court for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday.
The Supreme Court had been due to deliberate on whether to hear the prosecution case against him.
The prosecution’s lawyer, Mark Pritchard, said the president was still suffering from the “worrying medical condition”.
“It is now time to give the decision to the police to prosecute him and the rest of us to give a long-awaited verdict on the merits of the case,” he said.
